My best friend

This is my best friend.

His name is Aaron...and he's my husband.

Aaron and I met each other back in '05 through his cousin. His cousin thought I needed a boyfriend and without my knowing, set us up on a blind date.

We ended up going out to eat and afterwards we went to a club.
I actually had a lot of fun!
I had been out of a relationship for 3 years and didn't think I was ready to begin a new one, but Aaron changed my outlook on a lot of things!

After dating for awhile, things just happened and we lost contact with each other.

I continued going over to his cousin's house to help him with projects or whatever, and I always asked about Aaron, so his cousin gave me his new number and told me to call him up.

I think I had Aaron's new number in my purse for 3 months before I said "screw it" and gave him a call.
He seemed really shocked to hear from me and told me to meet him at his new place.
I was really nervous, but I ended up driving into town and meeting up with him.

I was so excited to see him and had butterflies in my stomach. I have no idea why I was so nervous...we used to hang out all the time!

I got up to his apartment and he invited me in. We ended up ordering some food and he went on to tell me how he missed me and didn't want to lose contact with each other again.
From there, we were doing just about everything together.
He helped me through a lot of hard times by giving me a place to live when my old roommate decided she didn't want to share a place together and moved out on me, helping me learn my way around a new town, helping me look for a place of my own, and just being there when tough things happened.

I knew we would be friends for the rest of our lives.
So when he asked me to marry him October 2008...I didn't even have to think twice before I blurted out YES!
We were so excited, we got married 2 months after that and I couldn't be happier!

Six Word Saturday [Edition 9]

It's another Saturday so head on over to Cate's at Show My Face and check out what everyone else is sayin'.

This week:
In a funk. Don't know why.

Pretty much self explanatory. No?

Sep 22, 2009

It's cooommmiinnngggg....

Alright, remember my To Do List I posted in my previous post?

Well, I got to mark some things off of it!
Go me!
*Does a little jig*

Well I finished sorting the 11 boxes of business papers sitting in my garage AND drove to Palmer to drop them off at the shop.

It was a pretty nice drive.

So for those that have succumbed to the power of Twitter [good for you!] and have not seen the crappy mobile pics of the worst thing imaginable at this time, I'm sharing them right here.

That's right folks....S-N-O-W!
The weather chick on the news said it was "termination snow" meaning it was supposed to appear, then disappear.

Bull.Crap.

That crap is here to stay. Hubs took off with my camera or I would show you a pic of the mountains when I returned from Palmer. It's full and thick on the top.

It's going to be a long winter.

Tomorrow I get to drive back to Palmer to pick up another business truck. [Bleh...I don't want to it.]

Hopefully I don't see this guy...

Stupid troopers...
I wasn't able to speed. I had to drive 50 miles to Palmer at 45-50 mph instead of my usual 70-75!
The speed limit is 65pmh, but if you pass a trooper on the highway [even going normal speed limit] they will run you off the road and pull you over and ticket you for something.

Hope everyone has had a great Tuesday and awesome Wednesday!

Oh!
I also forgot to mention...
So remember how I got canned and I was secretly looking for work behind my old employers back yada, yada, yada?

Well the place I was secretly applying to called me today on my way to Palmer and I got an interview on Friday!
*Does another jig*

Keep your fingers crossed!

So much to do!

Since I'm currently unemployed I get to tackle a bunch of house projects. Yay me! [Please note: I'm using as much sarcasm as possible when I just said that]

To Do List:
  1. Clean garage [I currently have 11 boxes of sorted business invoices & receipts, camping gear, motorcycles, and tables I have to put away]
  2. Take 11 boxes of sorted business invoices and receipts & take them to Palmer [45 miles from me] and drop them off at the shop.
  3. Pack camping gear in shed
  4. Clean shed so I can fit camping gear in it
  5. Rake up all the leaves
  6. Take my truck in and get it winterized [Change oil, add all fluids, check tire tread, make sure 4 wheel drive is working properly]
  7. Clean out dead flowers out of the flower beds
  8. Pack up everything in the downstairs office for remodel
  9. Rent a floor scrubber to clean the linoleum downstairs
  10. Winterize lawn mower
  11. Fix damn mailbox. It's getting it's lean on right now LoL
  12. Clean canoes and prop them under the front deck
  13. Empty all dead plant pots and put in shed
  14. Clean out truck and put all winter gear in it
  15. Scrub out freezer in garage and house
  16. Organize all oil, window washer fluid, antifreeze to an easy spot in garage
  17. 389394948339 loads of laundry
  18. Find all of our winter gear [Gloves, scarves, sweaters, hoodies, winter coats]
That's all I can think of at the moment. I'm sure there's a bunch more that I need to get done.
Can you tell I'm getting ready for winter?
That's right...I saw a speck of snow on the mountains.
Winter is coming!!

Hope I can stay focused all week and get them done.
Feel free to come help if you want...I pay in delicious cookies and cupcakes.

Hope everyone has a great Monday!

Friday Flashback

It's another week to go back to memory lane with you all. Hope you enjoy!

It's a little blurry, but you can still see the ice is pink.
This was taken at the Alaska Ace's hockey game where they were sponsoring a Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser.
I had a blast helping them out that day.
My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 35. Luckily they found it very early and she's in remission. I thank God every day for that.
Oh and if you're wondering, those guys are shooting tshirts out of a giant Subway sandwich gun.

10 things I love about fall

I know I complain about it getting colder and colder here in Alaska, but our Summers are so short I just don't want them to end.
Fall is my favorite season though.

Here are 10 things on why I love fall =]

  1. Football starts! [I am such a football fan, but hockey is second]
  2. Halloween [My favorite holiday]
  3. Brisk chilly mornings/evenings
  4. Change of leaves
  5. Hayrides
  6. Gloves
  7. Scarves
  8. Sweaters
  9. Snuggling up in my recliner with my favorite throw blanket.
  10. Enjoying the last bit of sunlight in Alaska before winter hits
What are some of your favorite things about fall?

Random Updates

So here's an update on some things going on. I'm super tired so it's gonna be in bullets =].

  • Since Sunday, I've actually been on "normal people" hours. Meaning I go to bed by 10 or 11 and I'm up at 7am...ugh.
  • I officially do not work at my crappy job anymore...but I'm waiting to start a new one. Week or 2 tops!
  • Hubs is ok with that. I thought he'd be mad.
  • It's officially fall in Alaska and I have mixed feelings about. I love, love, love the brisk mornings, seeing my breath in the air, the colors of the changing leaves, shopping for new scarves and gloves,
  • So my drunk mother-in-law fell down the stairs tonight. She's got a huge bump on her head, so it's probably going to be a long night and not much sleep because I'm going to have to check on her.
  • There's a birthday party coming up on Saturday for my Hubs' best friend. She's turning 28 or something and I'm really excited about not having to work so I can actually go out and socialize.
  • I have a feeling that my life is on the change for the better. It's my time!!
  • My right kidney has kind of been hurting. Drinking some cranberry juice to flush everything out. Seems to be helping a little bit.
  • Somehow the talk show Maury ended up on my DVR. Hubs is denying it, but he's the only other one...after watching it because there's nothing else on, I remember why I quit watching the show.
  • I've had such writer's block...I'm still working on the post I promised last Sunday about why I'm so concerned about my sister's pregnancy and asking for prayer every week. It's going to be so personal that I want to make sure I get everything in there. I'm still really nervous about being so personal.
  • Hubs got 100 successful blood draws at his externship. They offered him a job after his graduation.
  • Hubs graduates October 6th!
Ok, so I think that's enough for now. It's time for me to wind down and get ready for bed.
Night blogarinos!

Happy Birthday!

There are just too many birthdays this month!
I have twin sisters, Genny and Jessie, and today is their 21st birthday!
I can't believe they are legal age to drink!!
I still think of them as little girls =[

Well happy birthday ladies! I love you guys very much!
Oh, and I know you're going to read this and I know you're going to hate this picture...Haha!

Can't wait to take you guys out!

This was taken last year when I went to see them for their 20th birthday =D

Change of jobs?

So if you're a regular follower, I've been bitching complaining about my current job.
I've been playing it safe and continue working there while looking for other work, so I wouldn't be without some sort of income.
Well, I went in for an interview today at a new place and the lady I had an interview with said to fill out some forms and come back tomorrow for an interview and get things rolling.
I'm so freaking excited.

Let's just hope that nothing happens and I do get the job!

Flashback Friday

Another trip down memory lane...
This week, I'm posting 2 pics because I liked them both!

Last summer, Alaska started the celebration of Alaska's 50th Anniversary of being a state. So Hubs and I went to Elmendorf AirForce base here in Anchorage for a free concert.

Who did we see, you ask?

Wynonna and her mom, Naomi! It was a great concert, even if we had to stand for 4 hours on a cement tarmac.
Have a great weekend everyone!

You are NOT the father!

Growing up, I lived with a man who I called "dad".
Everything was hunky dory until one day, I was told that the man I called "dad" was not really my dad.
After my "dad" passed away, I was pretty persistent about knowing who my biological father was.

There was a man out there who fathered me, but my mother was a very sneaky person and wouldn't tell me who it was.

Well, after a lot of bitching and moaning, my mother crumbled and told me who he is.

As soon as I got his name, I instantly searched and found his address, phone number, his profession, and his email address to his work.

I got pretty busy with life and such and I was searching through my address book and came across his name and stared thinking about contacting him.
The thing is...I have no idea what I would say, how I would say it, or if he would want to even talk to me.
I have such a fear of rejection that I get ill just thinking about contacting him.
I'm not looking at calling him "dad" or anything, but I would like to talk to him. My mother refuses to talk about him and told me that if I want to know anything, I have to get it out of this man.

Any suggestions?

Phantom 911 Caller?

Crazy days here at the Brown house.

I was downstairs cleaning our room and doing laundry when I heard the doorbell ring.
I put down the broom and I heard the doorbell ring again and some banging on the door.
I yelled up that I was coming and to hold their horses.

When I reached the front door, I saw 3 cops on my porch looking in with hands on their guns.
I slowly opened the door and they took a step back, looking at me.

Cop: Are you alright?
Me: Should I not?
Cop: Is anyone in the house with you?
Me: No. I'm the only one home. What's this about?
Cop: We got a 911 call a few minutes ago from this number.

Impossible. The phone was upstairs on the charger.

Me: Well, the phone is right there and I've been downstairs.
Cop: Do you have a fax line?
Me: Yeah. In my office downstairs.
Cop: Is the phone number 555-1111 (obviously a fake number for blogging status)
Me: Yes, but no one has been on that phone.
Cop: Well alright Miss. You sure everything is ok?
Me: Yes officer, everything is fine. Sorry about all of this.

So after the cops left, I went downstairs and looked at my fax machine.
Sure enough, the last call displayed was to 911.

I've unplugged my fax machine for the day so it doesn't make anymore calls to 911 until I can figure this out...

So in honor of my phantom caller...I've found some of my favorite 911 calls.
Enjoy =]

Lady calls 911 because McD's is out of chicken nuggets!

Woman calls 911 to get a date

Burger King out of Lemonade

Cop calls 911 coz he thinks he's dying

Looking for my pot of gold

For as long as I can remember, I've been completely obsessed fascinated with rainbows.I used to go looking for the end of the rainbow to look for the leprechaun and of course the pot of gold.

I remember when I was about 6 years old, I made my dad try and find the end of the rainbow for our pot of gold.
After a half a hour (I'm really surprised my dad put up with it that long!) of driving around trying to find the end of this thing, the rainbow disappeared.
I cried the rest of the night.

It didn't ruin the fact that I loved looking a seeking out rainbows after a rainy day.

About 3 days ago here in Anchorage, we had an awesome rain storm.
Hubs and I went for a drive and while looking at the sky, I found a huge rainbow.
I didn't have my camera on me, but I managed to get some decent pictures from my Blackberry.

Unfortunately, I did not find my pot of gold this time either.
But the pictures are pretty!

Weekly Praise and Prayer [Edition 15]

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Psalms 51:10 (NIV)
I've been doing a lot of thinking about this past week and I've had so much hate and negativity around me. I've been praying about this long and hard and I decided to dust off the Bible (I admit, I've been busy and haven't opened it in weeks!!) and I just randomly opened it to a page that was calling my name and saw this verse and it screamed out to me!
I prayed and prayed over this verse and decided that I needed to take a step back and start off fresh. I need to let things go and just let God work things out for me. Me being angry at my situation with work isn't going to change because I'm angry...God has his plan for me and there's a reason why things at work are happening the way they are. I just need to let go and let things play out.
So my bloggy friends...I'm going into this week with a pure heart and after praying and reading some things, I have a new outlook and have spirit! It's taken a load off of my shoulders just reading some things in the Bible for a bit.
So with that off my chest, on to my weekly praise and prayers!
If you need anything prayed over or have any praise to announce, just email me or leave a comment =]
Praise
My sister, Genny, having a healthy pregnancy [Ultrasound looks fantastic!]
"Bob" from an earlier post [Working on getting his life together. He now has a job]
Aaron [Finding a new externship site so he can graduate on time!]

Prayers
A co-worker @ work [Her father passed away in another country and she's going to bury him.]
My brother [Needs some direction in his life]
My sister, Genny [Continuing with a healthy pregnancy]**
Amy [Her continuing fight with cancer and some other family members]
Another co-worker "P" [Her mother is very ill and doesn't look good]
A very good friend "C" [Having problems with her boss]

** = another post on why I'm so worried about my sister's pregnancy coming soon!

Hope everyone has a great Labor Day and a very happy birthday to Megan over @ INfertile Myrtle so head on over and show her some birthday love!

Introducing...

If you follow me on Twitter, you'll know that I recently went to my sister's ultrasound.
She was 20 weeks and 1 day along and they were doing an ultrasound to make sure everything was ok and to answer the question...Is it a boy or a girl?

Well when we got there, the ultrasound technician checked the heart, did some measurements, checked the arms, the brain, the legs, etc.

When she moved the probe over to see the sex of the baby, it kept moving their arms and covering it.
The ultrasound tech would then go measure something else, then try and surprise to check the sex again and the arms would shoot right back down and cover the bits.

FINALLY, after 35 minutes of looking around, the ultrasound tech caught the baby off guard and found their bits.

It's a girl!!!
I'm so excited!

So without further ado, I'd like to introduce my niece!

This is by far the scariest ultrasound pic I've seen. Doesn't it look like a demon face??

The ultrasound tech even did a 4-d ultrasound, but because my sister is only 20 weeks, it looks really weird.
They're going to do another one the next time she goes in.

I was so excited when I saw that it was a girl!
My sister's due date is January 19th (I believe that's what the doctor said) which means smack dab in the middle of winter!
I can't wait to start planning the baby shower.
Any suggestions are welcome because I have never planned a baby shower.
Ha!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Six Word Saturday [Edition 6]

It's another Saturday so head on over to Cate's at Show My Face and check out what everyone else is sayin'.

This week:
I'm really going to miss summer!

Summer is always too short here in Alaska. Although I really do like the color and smell of fall, it means snow is right around the corner!

It's another visit to my Photobucket account for a look back!

This was my family, me, and some friends a few hours before my brother went to Seattle to stay with his brothers and kick his drug habit. It was a sad, but great night that night!
