Dear Friday

Dear Friday,
I absolutely love you.
I love sleeping in when you come around.
It makes my week so much better.

I forget things like:
Getting sharted on while working with a patient in ICU
Having a 600 lb woman grab onto my neck while falling onto her bed when she was trying to throw a dramatic temper tantrum.
Having a man poop himself on purpose while transporting him because I wouldn't take him outside to smoke a cigarette.
Trying to train a person that shouldn't ever be working in a hospital.

And most of all,
Dealing with all of the work drama since no one knows how to show up for their shift.

Sincerely yours,

Another year closer to 30

Today is my birthday.
I'm 27.
My family forgot.
Like always.
Wasn't expecting them to remember.
So at least I'm not bummed.

My husband remembered.
He got me flowers and a card, with a birthday balloon.
His grandmother even remembered and called me.
She sang Happy Birthday to me over the phone.
It made me smile.

Another year closer to the big 3-0.

Six Word Saturday

Guess who purchased some internet yesterday?

Yep, I caved and went to the cable company and added internet to my account. Ended up getting a good deal. Only so much I could do on my iPhone.

Happy Saturday everyone!

This message brought to you by Cate at ShowMyFace. Check out her blog and see what everyone else is saying in six words!

Weekly Rambles

So it snowed...again! All of the snow melted, it was warm, it was sunny and I thought Spring was here to stay. WRONG! There better be no snow on my birthday.

Speaking of birthdays, my birthday is this Sunday. I'll be 27 years old and I hate it. I'm close to 30 and it makes me feel old. Anywho, feel free to give me lots of presents!!

It feels good to finally have 3 days off in a row again. I've loved the overtime, but I'm sooooo tired. Now I have 3 days for some relaxation.

My body is killing me. I just want to lay in bed for a week.

Justin and Carrie finally got to Minnesota. I miss them.

Thinking about seeing a movie. I got free movie tickets from my boss for busting my butt at work, so I want to go see one. Any suggestions for movies that are out there?

Happy weekend blogarinos!

Must be going crazy because now I'm hearing voices

A couple of weeks before Carrie and Justin left for Minnesota, Carrie woke up freaking out.
She came out to the living room and told me someone had said something to her as she was waking up.
I looked up from putting on my socks and had a dumbfounded look on my face. She then told me she was actually waking up when she heard a man's voice. I asked her what the man said and she said, "The man told me that I was going to die April 5th".
I looked at her and my jaw hit the floor. April 5th is the exact date she was flying to Seattle to embark on her journey back home to Minnesota.

Now if you know me, you'll know that I'm pretty anxious and a worry wart. Well Carrie is 100% more anxious than I am. We talked about this "man" all day at work. Of course me making anything and everything into a joke, I messed with her for DAYS!
Even up until the minute we took her to the airport.
My farewell words were, "Have a safe flight. Call me when you land in Seattle...if you're still alive".
Yeah, I'm a bitch! Ha!

Well needless to say, she did not die. She made it safely back to Minnesota a few hours ago, after taking a roadtrip.

What I'm about to tell you has NEVER happened to me before.

Once Carrie and Justin left, Aaron and I moved into the master bedroom. My first night sleeping in there was very peaceful. Best night of sleep I had in a long time. Until I woke up of course...

I woke up and turned the alarm off. Rolled up to stretch and I heard it...
Yep! A man's voice. This time, he said, "Beware Nikke. Hold your tongue because people will irritate you today."

I rolled over and nudged Aaron to see if he heard anything. He told me to be quiet because he was sleeping.
I thought maybe I was just thinking something was going on because I was thinking about Carrie tellin me her story, so I got up for the day and got ready for work.
I was jamming out to music on the way into work, trying to keep my mind off of things. Once I got to work all of my troubles went away. I got so caught up in my work I completely I forgot about what happened earlier in the morning until later on when my patience was tested. I was about to lash out at a particular nurse when I remembered what the man's voice had said...so I held my tongue. I started freaking out a little on the inside thinking about this, but just figured it was my mind playing tricks on me. It didn't bother me until yesterday morning.

The voice was back!

This time, I turned off my alarm and rolled over and I heard the voice again and it said, "Get ready early, it snowed."

I went to the bathroom, got dressed and checked my Facebook and saw that all of my Anchorage friends said it snowed like 4 inches overnight. My jaw dropped!

I hurried to the windows and opened the blinds and the parking lot was covered in snow! I couldn't believe it. What is wrong with me?????

Just throw me in the loony bin and throw away the key.

This is freaking me out!

Adventures in cooking

It's very rare that I cook things that I have never tried before. I'm scares that no one will like it or find out I'm a horrible cook!

I decided to be adventurous and I cooked homemade pizza last Saturday. I was craving pizza, but sick of the local pizza shops in Anchorage.

First batch of dough came out entirely too runny. I tried and tried to fix it and was wondering how cone it was so thin.
Then I remembered...I was using a 1/4 cup to measure out flour and miscalculated the measurement. I tries again and the dough came out perfect!
But it gets worse...
The recipe I was using told me for the size and ingredients, it was going to be 25 minutes at 425 degrees. So I popped it in the oven, set the timer and went about folding laundry and cleaning the house.
I hear the timer go off, so I walked to the oven, opened it, and started to laugh.

This is what came out:

It was shriveled (the crust went to the edge of the pan) and completely burnt. The cheese was rock hard!
My husband came in and laughed so hard.
I dares my sister to try it. She did...

She hasn't thrown up or almost died yet...

Well I was not about to quit! I wanted to make a successful homemade pizza so I was going to make a good one and set my own temp and time.

This is what I made:

I started off small so I could test again.
This is what it came out like:

It was so delicious!
I'll definitely be practicing this recipe until I perfect it!

Weekend recap

I had one of the best weekends!
My husband was kind enough to travel a hour one way to pick up my sister and my niece, Julia.

Isn't she adorable??

It was so much fun playing with her all weekend.
She's only 3 months, but she's talkative and learning everything!

My sister and I love board games. Our all time favorite is Monopoly.

My husband got all the money. He got tired and gave up. Monopoly can be a very long, tiresome game.
Even Julia likes it.

She loves holding onto the money!

We went shopping for some things, made homemade pizza, and watched movies.
I'm so glad they came out for the weekend!

Because when I get off work, I get to spend the entire weekend with this little peanut...

I can't wait!

(Dont mind the date, my sister can't figure out how to change the date on her camera. Ha!)

Have a great weekend blogarinos!

Weekly Rambles

- I have been so busy with all of this overtime I'm working. I'm just thankful for the slow morning I'm having right now so I can update and write a few future posts.

- My younger sister is coming home from her first round up on the slopes. She got a job on the pipeline working as a housekeeper. She was gone 3 weeks.

- My other younger sister is coming into town tomorrow with my niece Julia. I'm so excited!!

- I just had the most tortured 2ww. Got a huge big fat NEGATIVE. Oh well...working on this month. I kind of slacked on my temp taking and ovulation predictor sticks, so I'm buckling down this month.

- Its very lonely now that Justin and Carrie have been gone almost a week. I know we all got on each other's nerves, but it was comforting to have them around. They ate currently driving in California on their way to Las Vegas.

- Still looking for a new apartment. I hate apartment shopping.

- I got a dollar raise at work. Woot!

- My boss hired more people, but they don't really want to work here...from what they tell me. I'm so tired of my boss hiring people that are just taking a temp job. They only last 2-3 days then they quit.

- Still no word on the job offer Hubs interviewed for. It's really wearing on me.

- I love that it's getting light out around 6am. It's an awesome sign of Summer to come. Can't wait for the 24 hour sunlight!

Easter recap

Happy belated Easter blogarinos!
I know, I know...I'm a slacker, but in my defense, I've been working lots of overtime and just too lazy to type anything out by the time I get home.

Easter was great!
We went to my mother-in-law's house and I cooked my very first Easter dinner...and everyone survived!

My favorite little man came over and I got to spend more time with Justin and Carrie before they left to move to Minnesota.
My favorite man and I got to color eggs (which I'm not ashamed to admit I love) and he said some awesome bible verses before dinner.
We even had an Easter egg hunt for him, which he squealed like a little girl everytime he found an egg. I have it on video so I'll post another day.
It was a great day!

So here's some pics to show all the fun:

Time has been flying by so fast.
Justin and Carrie are leaving in 4 days.
Aaron turns 30 tomorrow.
I turn 27 in 17 days.
I've been at my job for 7 months.

I've been working so much lately. Today and tomorrow is all overtime. I've been getting my ass kicked.
My shoulder is starting to hurt again because of the added stress and physical activity at work.
I've made plans to do things, but I keep losing time!
I've had so many awesome blog ideas, but I'm just too tired to write them all out by the time I get home.
Instead, I write a crappy post.
I need more hours in my day. That would be great!

Anywho, prayers for Aaron please. He has an interview today!!!
Keep your fingers crossed with me!

Have a beautiful Thursday. I promise I'll be back to my awesomeness soon =]

April Fools fail

April Fool's has never been one of my fav events and this is why...

As most of you know, I'm not from around these parts.
I didn't celebrate a lot of things that are on the U.S. calendar.
When I moved here, my aunt thought it would be really cool and start learning about things.

It was October 30, 2008 and I was at Aaron's work helping him clean up when I got a phone call from my aunt.
She sounded so serious and asked if I was sitting down.
So I sat down and asked her what was wrong. She told me that my Grampa died.
I was totally devastates. My Grampa and I are really close and I hated being a gagillion miles away from him. It still kills me.

I was sitting there crying and had to hang up. Aaron came up to me and asked me what was wrong and I just broke down even harder. He held me for a ling time.

A week passed by and I was waiting to hear about funeral arrangements. I was a walking zombie. I was at. Laundry mat doing some laundry when I got a text...

"Hey Niknak! Haven't heard from you in awhile. Call me! Love you, Gramps"

I literally dropped my phone and broke down. I was freaking out thinking someone was playing a trick on me.
So I called his number and he answered. I was blown out of my mind!
I was crying and he asked me what was wrong, so I told him what my aunt said. He was pretty pissed, so he called her.
A hour later, my aunt calls me and says she was sorry. I asked her why she did it and she said Happy Fools Day!!

I seriously just blinked. I'm told her it was Halloween, not APRIL Fools. She asked me what the difference was, so I had to explain it. She just laughed. I then told her April Fools was not supposed to be like that. You don't tell people their family members die, then not say April Fools right after.

So that's my April Fools fail.
I freakin' hate April Fools...
