I've just been so busy running around and what-not.
I've had the past 3 days off of work, but not off of work from around the house...
Never-ending I tell ya!!
+Went to Target and bought some neccesseties.
+ Paid some bills
+ Went to mother-in-law's house to have lunch
+ Went grocery shopping.
OH! When I went grocery shopping, I found an awesome sale at a local grocery store. I ended up getting $210 worth of groceries for $98. I did have a $25 gift certificate there, but I still saved a lot of money!
I ended up finishing off my day laying on the couch all night watching TV until I passed out.
+ Got up early because I needed to get an oil change.
+ Went to the Monster Wash across town and got my vehicle detailed on the inside. They did a WONDERFUL job!!!!!!!! I'd kiss their feet if I weren't afraid of feet so much. They did just a great job, and the price was reasonable. I will definitely be spreading the word about them!
+ Went and did some more shopping. Needed new floor mats for the vehicle, some hair products and deoderant. I totally ran out 2 days ago. I've been scraping the stuff out of the very bottom of the stick. Ha!
+ Made a DELICIOUS dinner. I'll definitely have to share the recipe sometime. If you love pork chops, you have to try this. My mom wrote it down for me and it's so good I have to share!
+ Talked on the phone with a great friend. We caught up on a bunch of things. It was nice talking to him.
Now today, I plan on taking my mother-in-law to her doctor appointments. She hurt herself a few weeks ago and saw the doctor after 3 weeks of hurting. She ended up pulling a muscle and messing with the nerves in her shoulder. She's been pretty loopy on medicine. It's hilarious!!
After that, I'm friggin' free!!!
I do need to finish laundry, but that's a piece of cake.
What does everyone have planned for their weekend??
Come on people! I'm now having to live through you all since I work the weekend shift now. Tell me something exciting! Please?
Happy Thursday everyone!!!
Why you ask?
Two reasons...1.) So Aaron can meet my family. He's NEVER met anyone other than 3 siblings and my mom. 2.) December 5th is our 2 year anniversary. We've never taken a real honeymoon, gone on vacation, or anything, and the Cincinnati Bengals are playing New Orleans Saints.
For those of you that have been following my blog for awhile know that my husband is a DIE.HARD.SAINTS.FAN!
I even have a video on YouTube of him freaking out when they won the Superbowl and cried. Ha! I know, I'm evil.
Some people may say that going to a professional football game isn't very romantic for a honeymoon, but I beg to differ!
We are very much one of the most sports enthusiastic couple I know. It also doesn't come around very often that we get a chance to see a football game since Alaska doesn't have a team...yet. So it's the perfect vacation!
I'm so freakin' excited!!!
I haven't seen my family in 7 years. I've missed them incredibly. I wish I could take more than 9 day to spend time with them all, but that's all I can take off from work financially.
Since I decided that 9 days was the longest we could take, I've been able to get a lot of sight seeing in since Aaron hasn't been out of Alaska.
On our itinerary:
+ Cincinnati Bengals vs. New Orleans Saints (obviously)
+ Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio
+ Cincinnati Zoo (they have an excellent Christmas display around that time)
+ Newport Aquarium in Newport, KY
+ Wright-Patterson Airforce Base
Not to mention all the of restaurants we do not have in Alaska. Such as:
+ Olive Garden
+ Waffle House
+ Red Lobster
+ Goldstar or Skyline Chili
+ Cracker Barrel
We are going to get sooooooooo much fatter!
I'm just so excited!
I have not been to your restaurant in a long time. Now I remember why.
As we were seated, it took exactly 15 minutes for a server to come out and ask us what we wanted to drink, and took another 10 minutes before it was brought out to us.
As we sat there waiting for the server to come by and take our order, the busboy came out of the back and began wiping down tables. He didn't seem to have a pleasant attitude, but then again, who wants to be at an iHop bussing tables.
When he got to the table next to us, he was pretty angry and was wiping the table very aggressively and knocking things around. That was when he smacked the coffee urn off the table, sending it into the air and crashing down on the top of my gramma's foot.
Gramma sent out a cry of pain (because she was wearing flip flop sandals of all days) and the busboy just looked at her. After saying something to him, he let out the weakest thing I've ever heard being played off as an apology.
When asked to speak to a manager, it took exactly 20 minutes AFTER we were done eating for her to grace us with her presence.
Oh! The food was horrible too. It was not hot at all and there were many subsitutions for things they didn't have, but never asked about.
The manager did offer a gift certificate to our next visit (which was a great gesture), but as you can probably get from this letter, we will never be visiting your establishment again. Our friends and family will also be hearing of our experience as well.
I've only had problems with a few of the team members so far. Mainly attitude problems that they had before I went to my weekend shifts.
This one lady, CB, has such an attitude and I don't know why she has it. She refuses to work with certain people on the team and I'm not going to have that. AT.ALL.
We are a team and everyone will work together. I explained that to her and said if she doesn't think she can work as a team member, then let me know and I'll let the boss know and he can put her back into home care.
We are so busy at the hospital and I don't have time for shennanigans.
We will be doing a page, and she starts yelling at the nurse. Wanting to know why she's being slow and if she knows how to do her job. Are you kidding me?!
She will even yell at other co-workers when she thinks they are doing something wrong. She's still pretty new and doesn't know the correct way to do things, so when she's doing something wrong, she gets mad.
And to make things worse, she does it all in front of the patients as we're in route to where they need to go.
It's so embarrassing.
I've talked to her about it numerous times, but my breaking point was on Friday. I simply told her she needed to change her attitude or she was going to be gone. She didn't talk to me for the rest of the shift, and when I left, she talked about me behind my back.
I don't have time to play these petty little games.
Another lady, CV, just doesn't get it! I don't know what her problem is, but she's been with us since last December and she all of a sudden forgot how to do her job. She's not following any of the protocols and regulations and I'm constantly having to re-teach her how to do stuff. I don't know what's going on. I plan on working with her more next week and getting her back on track.
Everyone else that I'm working with is great and some of them read my blog so here's a big shout out to them.
YOU ROCK!!!! And thanks for making the transition great! Pizza on me next Friday!
Today I had to get my CPR certification for work.
I haven't taken a CPR class in YEARS, so I had to take the full class.
I was the only one that showed up...
So here I am, all by myself, practicing the stuff on the instructor!
She was a good sport, but she had no idea what she was doing. I told her to just let me watch the videos and she can watch me practice on the dummy.
I nailed everything and got 100% on the 2 CPR tests and the first aid training test.
It's because I'm awesome...duh.
He was an awesome sport letting me bang on his chest a few times.
I'm very proud of myself because I worked from being the lowest person on the team, to being a supervisor on the weekend shifts.
The only bad thing about it is that I have to work Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, but it's more hours and I got a nice raise.
Praise the Lord!
He knows we are in need and he has come though with this awesome opportunity.
It feels great knowing that I'm going to be able to pay my bills...on time. It's nowhere near what I'd like to make so I could save money for a house, but it's just not our time yet.
I'm very thankful that Aaron is working the hours he is and that I have work.
With my new job, I'll now be running a 4 person team at the hospital.
I've already had some problems with a few of my co-workers, but we're looking at getting that straightened out.
I'm looking forward to the challenges and building a better department at the hospital.
I want to make sure we're needed for a long time!
I just haven't had the time to do anything!
I have so much to update everyone on. I don't even know where to start.
I do know that I'm spacing all of my great news instead of one huge post.
It'll save your eyes from reading a bunch of randomness and save my fingers from becoming numb!
Here's what I've been up to:
- New job responsibilities and more hours.
- Taking care of Gramma & Poppy
- Planning an exciting trip!
- Dealing with family drama
So I feel so horrible for disappearing!
I am okay!
I have been reading all of your lovely blog posts and emails, so don't think I've been ignoring you all <3.
How's your weekend going?
Well Tuesday was my day off, so I drove him clear across town, getting lost a few times, and found where the guy worked.
We got there and he bought my brother a car. It's not the nicest looking car, but it's a car nonetheless and he just handed the title and keys over to my brother.
He said he wanted my brother to have a reliable way to get to work and come see his son whenever he wanted.
This generous act of a man that didn't have any ties or obligations to my brother, bought him a car.
That seriously made tears of joy fall out of my eyes.
Just the other week we were talking in prayer circle while eating lunch and we had some ladies pray over my brother and myself.
My brother hasn't had the best life while growing up and things have just been a little bit harder on him than other people.
So we see this as a huge blessing and his ex-gf's father will always have a special place in my heart.
For those who don't know, Pastor Kent was the one that opened up and helped me with my spiritual journey for the past 2 years. He's helped me out tremendously in my life and I'm so blessed to have him in my life.
His sermons each Sunday are FANTASTIC!
Well Sunday night at chuch, we celebrated his birthday.
The worship music was fantastic and everyone was so lifted in the spirit.
Afterwards, we had a great sermon from Pastor Kent's life-long prayer partner and friend, Smiley Dan! It was about believing. It was encouraging and moving.
Afterwards, it was present time!!!
I took pics from my iPhone, so they are a little blurry, but enjoy! =]
I pray that you
may enjoy good health
and that all may go well with you,
even as your soul
is getting along well."
(3 John 1:2, NIV)
Happy Birthday Pastor Kent!
He had a blast running around doing errands with me and wanted to see Gramma and Poppy. He loves Poppy!
He wanted to go outside and play, so I took him outside while Cindy and I were out there talking.
Well that's when he found it...
He found the raspberry bushes that Cindy has along a fence.
It was on!!!
Ben LOVES anything berry.
So with Cindy's permission, he got to pick to his heart's content!
I was excluded from the party
My brother's ex-girlfriend decided to throw a big party for my nephew's 2nd birthday.
I was not able to attend his 1st birthday because she didn't bother to ask when I worked, but this year she did.
She planned it for 5 different days, but finally she settled on one. She actually asked when I worked this year!!
My nephew's birthday was actually on September 2nd, and the big party was supposed to be on September 5th.
Well the day of his birthday, she calls me and says she changed the time of his birthday for THAT day and it was at 6pm.
What the hell?!?
I work Monday - Friday. 8am to 6pm and she lives a hour away. She knows this.
I was livid.
She said that Saturday wasn't good for her after all, so she's calling everyone to tell them it's that night.
So once again, I was excluded from my nephew's birthday party.
