Feeling accomplished!

As much as I love the holiday, I am ready for it to be over so I can RELAX!
Today I went to the post office to mail off gifts to my niece, sisters, and my aunts. I thought it was going to be horrible and I would be waiting in line forever.
Surprisingly, there was only one lady in front of me. I was in and out in 15 minutes!
Afterwards, MIL and I went to the storage unit to empty it out. We made room in the garage to put my couch and totes. Then I have to weed through it all and get rid of the stuff I do not want or can replace cheaply.
Less than 175 days and we are out of here!!
We even got our ferry tickets all set up. Our trip is almost paid for. I cannot wait.

All of our belongings fit in the back of my pick up truck. Ha!

Hope everyone has a great Friday!

3 Years & Counting

How I love this man.

My three year anniversary was Monday.
I never thought I would be married in my lifetime.
I'm so happy I have found the one that completes me.

Here's to many more years.
I love you babe.

December already?!?!

Well it's the 1st of December.
This year has gone by so fast!
With this being my last Christmas in Alaska, I'm totally in the holiday mood!
I went out on Black Friday and did 98% of my Christmas shopping so I'm excited about that. I even got it all wrapped.
MIL and I put up the tree the other night.

It's a small one, but it's still beautiful!

Have you gotten your tree up yet? If so, let's see it!
I can't wait until everyone decorates the houses in the neighborhood.
It's my favorite part of the holiday!

Six Word Saturday

My stupid knee gave out again.

I was walking down the stairs in my back yard the other day so I could let Cosmo out to do his business when my knee gave out and I fell down half the flight. That wasn't so bad except I crashed into the basement window. Besides the few scratches I got on my face and knee, I'm fine, but my body is now killing me.
I'm lucky that it was only 22 degrees outside and raining because I had a coat on, otherwise I would have gone without one and probably be cut up from crashing into it.
Oi!

Hope you have a blessed day Blogarinos!

I'm officially moved!

I finally have turned in my keys to my apartment and have gotten my deposit back so I'm a happy camper.
I still have unpacking to do and organize my storage unit.
I absolutely hate moving. I get to sit put for eight months, then it's the big trip to Minnesota!
I just can't wait to get back into a schedule.
I haven't blogged in so long and I've missed it.
I've been staying so busy. I joined Planet Fitness a few weeks ago and have been working out regularly. I've lost eight pounds so far and I'm so excited about it. The only thing that sucks is that I have to work out all by myself and there's very little motivation in that, but I push through it and do my workout anyway. I'm determined this time to stick to it and lose weight.
Hope you all have a great weekend. This girl is going to relax and maybe fall asleep!
Happy to be back in blog land =]

A blog for my family & friends

Dear family and friends,

I realize that after announcing on Facebook we were moving to Aaron's parents' house on such a short notice has come to a surprise to you all. Many of you have been wondering why we are moving into Aaron's parents' home.

Well I have an announcement to make.

After much thought, planning, and number crunching, Aaron and I have decided we are
moving to Minnesota.

Why do you ask?

Aaron and Justin are extremely close. The three of us lived together for a long time to the point where I call Justin MY big brother. When Justin met Carrie and she came to Alaska to visit, Aaron and I fell in love with her as well as Justin and called her our sister. When Carrie moved to Alaska, the four of us were one big happy family. We grew on each other and loved to hang out and do things.
Carrie became homesick and wanted to move back to Minnesota, and like a good boyfriend and later fiancee, Justin followed.
Once Justin and Carrie moved back to Minnesota, Aaron and I went on and got our own apartment, but Aaron missed Justin and Justin missed Aaron. Justin and Carrie would try and get us to move to Minnesota with them, but Aaron's a true Alaskan. He could never leave. I've asked him before if he wanted to move, but he was so dead against it.
When Justin and Carrie called us and told Aaron and me that they were pregnant, we were estatic. Aaron was so excited to be an uncle until he realized that we were 3,000 miles away. He would stay up at night and worry that his nephew would never really KNOW his uncle. He knew he wouldn't get to see his nephew as much as he wanted and he thought that his nephew would grow up knowing he had family in Alaska, but not really know them, so Aaron brought up the thought of moving.
When he brought it up, I was against it. I didn't want to leave the comfort of the life that we made, but after much thought as Carrie's stomach grew, I knew it was something that we could think about. After all, I missed Justin and Carrie so much! I told him that we would check out jobs, apartments, homes, the cost of living, and the state when we visited.

While we were awaiting our trip to Minnesota in September, Aaron and I had many conversations with Justin and Carrie. We talked about housing and getting jobs and other things. I talked with my Grampa, who lives in Ohio, about the thought of moving closer to him and we realized it was something that we wanted to do. After all, Aaron and my Grampa became really close on the visit we made back in December of last year. I also want to be closer to my family for awhile. So it became final. Aaron and I decided to move, but we kept it from everyone. Even Aaron's parents. So Aaron and I planned how we were going to do it with Justin and Carrie and then we knew we had to let his parents in on it.

Aaron made a phone call to his mom and dad while they were on vacation in Southeast Alaska breaking the news that we had decided to move out of state. It came to a shock to them, but they said wait until they come back home to talk about it more.

They came back home to Anchorage and Aaron and I went over and told them about our plans. We told them our plan on how we're getting there, how we're going to save money, and what we plan on doing. After we laid out the blueprint, Aaron's mom and dad gave us their blessing. They even allowed us to move in to their home so we could save the money for the trip as well as pay off our debts before we leave.

I know this may come to a surprise to the family and friends, but Aaron and I have made the decision and we're moving on.

It's time to make memories and an adventure for the two of us. We hope we have your blessings as well.

Sincerely with much love,

Fun in Minnesota

Hubster and I are having a blast in Minnesota!
This week we have:

  • Gone to a Minnesota Vikings vs. Detroit Lions football game at Mall of America Field. The Lions ended up winning in overtime. It was a good game even though the Vikings lost. The Packers won on that day. That's all that matters anyway. Ha!
  • Gone to Mall of America. Let me tell you, this place is HUGE! I was tired after a few hours and we just went to the East and North side of the mall. We're going back tomorrow for some more shopping. I have a lot of pictures that I need to organize and upload.
  • Gotten lost. Even with a damn GPS that I brought from home. I'm used to Alaska driving. We have three main highways and that's it! None of this I-35W North crap. What is that anyway??
  • Walked downtown Minneapolis. I can't wait to hit up St. Paul. I want to see St. Paul's Cathedral so bad!
  • Snuggled with my nephew Dylan. It amazes me how seeing a newborn baby moving around amaze everyone in the room.
I have another big day in the morning. MIL and I are going to do some more shopping for my BIL's new house and baby, then we're going back to Mall of America for some retail therapy. Meanwhile, here are a few shots I got while driving up to Minneapolis.

Have a happy Wednesday Blogarinos!

Sis-in-law is starting to have more frequent contractions. I think she's gonna go tonight. Can't wait!!
I'll update later when I'm on my laptop.

The story behind my memorial tattoo (with pics)

I posted last week that I was going to get a memorial tattoo done for Katelynn.
Well....I FINALLY GOT IT DONE TWO DAYS AGO!!!

I am so over the moon happy with it!
Here are some pics.
Sorry for the crappy pics, they were all taken with my cell. I have to fish out my camera.

This is when he first started doing the outline.

This is not blood! This is when he finished the outline and started on the red pieces.

This is when he started to fill it all in.

All finished!

This was taken the next day. It's healing very nicely!

So onto the meaning...
Hubster is Alaska Native. There are different natives in Alaska, but Hubster is called a Tlingit Indian. His family is all from the southeast region of Alaska, which includes Juneau, Petersburg, Kake, Sitka, and a bunch of other little islands.
Tlingit artwork is by far my favorite artwork out of everything!
In his culture, there are Ravens and there are Eagles. It then goes down into tribes, houses, family, clans, etc. The child always takes the side of the mother. Hubster's mother is an Eagle, so he became an Eagle.

When it comes time to marry, an Eagle cannot marry another Eagle and a Raven cannot marry another Raven. An Eagle must marry a Raven. Since I am not Alaska Native, I have been adopted by Hubster's family as one of them, so I became a Raven. When Eagles and Ravens come together, they produce a heart and are called "Lovebirds". So on my tattoo, that's where I get the heart shape. The Eagle is on the left and the Raven is on the right.

Because the child takes after the mother, our baby Katelynn would have been a Raven. So I got her name under the Raven side with a raven feather next to her name.

I knew I wanted something native to memorialize Katelynn because of the heritage that is Hubster's family, but I of course wanted to get his family's permission. Hubster and I looked at designs awhile back because I was thinking of getting just a Raven with Katelynn's name, but Hubster wanted an Eagle on there as well since she was part of the both of us, so I said why not the "Lovebirds"? He was all for it.
So after I found a picture of the "Lovebirds" that I liked, I went to town and added the name to it.
I showed the picture to everyone in Hubster's family and with the blessing of Hubster's grandmother as well as aunties, uncles, and in-laws, I set it into motion and went to find a shop to do my piece.

I went to several shops.
One shop in Anchorage told me, and I'm quoting his own words...."That's going to look like shit". I was so angry. He told me that it was going to have to be a back piece and he was going to charge me $750. I walked right out. I should have known something was up when he was sitting on his butt and playing on his phone with no clients in his shop at all.

I went to another shop and didn't like the way it looked, so I went to another shop and I instantly fell in love with them.
I looked at the portfolios and talked to both artists. They were so interested in the piece I brought it and were so touched by the story. I knew I found my artist. I decided to go with the artist Carlos because he was so pumped to do some Tlingit artwork. He couldn't stop talking about it the entire time he was tattooing me.

I am so grateful to have him as an artist and I'm finally at peace. I have my memorial to remember my angel baby. Afterwards, there were lots of hugs all around. I plan on going back to them for other work I want done.

If you're in Alaska and want to know a good place to go for to get a tattoo, check out Primal Instincts Tattoo at their website or like their Facebook page

Thank you Carlos!

Happy September and a sneak peek of my memorial tattoo

Today marks the 1st day of September which is probably my second favorite month.
I love the smells of the outdoors around this time in Alaska.
What I do NOT like is, it's almost winter time. Boo!

September to me means...
1 more day until Hubster and my six year anniversary from when we first started dating
2 more days until my nephew's birthday party (which I will be able to attend for the first time ever)
6 more days until I get my memorial tattoo for Katelynn.
14 days until my younger twin sisters' birthday.
17 more days until I'm Minnesota bound!
21 more days until my sister-in-law's due date and I get to meet my beautiful nephew!

September is very eventful for me!

As I mentioned before, I'm getting a memorial tattoo for Katelynn.
For those of you that are new to my blog, you can read the post here.
Katelynn was a daughter I miscarried late term.
Now this is just a rough sketch, but here's what I'm getting.

It's going to look a lot cleaner of course. It's just something I threw together on my computer a few days ago after a lot of thought. Next week, I'll let you know the story behind it.

Happy Thursday Blogarinos!

Update in doggy land

I have found a home for Fisher!
I am so freakin' happy.
I texted my friend and let her know that I wasn't going to be able to keep Fisher because of the way he was acting, so she texted me back this morning and told me she would pick him up and take him to the pound when she got off work.
The pound?!?
Does she know what they do there???
I couldn't let that happen, so I worked my ass off trying to find Fisher a new home.
I finally got a phone call this evening from a woman who was the answer to my prayers.
She has three children, a stay at home mom, no other pets, and has a nice big backyard.
I'm so glad I was able to find him a good home!

Troubles in doggy land

If you read my last blog post, you will notice that I got another dog.
His previous owner is a friend of mine and she's moving out of town and asked if I wanted him. She said he was really laid back, great with other dogs, and house broken.
Well after a few days of having the dog, he is anything but that!
In the past 48 hours, he has done the following:
  • Peed on Cosmo's head.
  • Snapped at Cosmo
  • Bit Cosmo on the leg
  • Bit me on the chin
  • Bit my hand
I hate to do this, but I can't handle him tormenting Cosmo, or biting me.
I let my friend know that she needs to come get Fisher and find him another home.
I feel awful.

Aunt Flo...paging Aunt Flo

Now I am in no way hoping Aunt Flo comes soon because:
a.) I hate being on my period.
b.) The pain that is going to accompany Aunt Flo.
c.) It's probably going to be a REALLY long visit.

But....

I have tested and I am not pregnant.
I am going on cycle day 68 which is by far the longest I've gone between cycles in the last three years.
I'm wanting to start some new pills, but don't want to start until Aunt Flo has showed.
I'm even thinking about going back on Metformin.

So, Aunt Flo, if you're reading this, will you please stop by for a visit?

10 Things I (currently) Love

1. Hubster (I'll always love him)
2. Cosmo. He is fitting so well into our family! His personality is just like mine. Hubster wants to die. Ha!
3. The fact that I get to see my nephew being born in about 42 days (if she's on time).
4. Sweet & Sour Twizzlers. I'm totally addicted to these damn things!
5. MyFitnessPal app on my iPhone.
6. C25K app on my iPhone. I'm learning how to run!
7. Planning to move out of state. Yes, I'm weird. I like to plan!
8. Having my brother out of my apartment every five weeks. I love his new job!
9. Getting hired help for the grandparents. I'm going to have more time to myself. Not that I don't like taking care of them. It's just really tiring with my 50 hour/week job.
10. Vacation in 38 days!

What are you loving lately?

What I've been up to…in pictures!

I really miss blogging.
I've just been so freaking busy!
This is what I've been up to while I haven't been in the blogging universe.

Hanging with Cosmo

Enjoying the beautiful night skies.

Waking up to an awesome sun rise.

I lost my last pair of contacts, so I've been sporting the glasses until I can see the eye doc. My prescription expired so I have to have my eyes re-tested. Bummer!

Exploring new music I hear on the radio.

Trying to stay alive at work. I'm not a fan of energy drinks, but this one is rather tasty.

Learning to crochet hats. I think I have it down now!

This is my first completed hat. Not too bad if I say so myself.

Trying to get Cosmo to model the new hat. He wasn't cooperating.

And lastly…

Enjoying the heat wave in Alaska!!!!

I hope all you Blogarinos have a great weekend!
What are your plans?
I start my work week today. Hopefully it's a great work week!
