As if things weren't interesting enough in my life

Dear Blogarinos,

I've been absent because things have finally caught up with me.
As if things couldn't get any worse with doctor appointments with the grandparents, but I got hurt and now have my OWN appointments on top of grandparents' appointments.

I was assaulted at work by a patient and ended up popping my knee. I can't go into details about how it happened because of the HIPAA laws on my blog, but I have to see an orthopedic surgeon later on this afternoon. I was seen at a doctor's office after it happened and he referred my entire case over to the surgeon. He believes I have some torn ligaments.

I'm in a knee immobilizer and have an ace bandage around my ankle because it is swollen as well. Of course I'm out of work until further notice.

Ah, the life of being me.

Six Word Saturday

I need some time to myself!

This month has just been too much for me. It's doctor appointment after doctor appointment, after doctor appointment with the grandparents.
I finally have Poppy squared away until summer with his appointments after his last upcoming one on Monday.
Gramma on the other hand is driving me insane!!!!
She thinks every little thing is wrong with her and has to visit all of her doctors and let them know what she's doing with another doctor and getting more tests done and re-making appointments to catch up all of her other doctors.
It's just getting too insane!
Hopefully this upcoming appointment on Monday with her as well is the last in awhile.
I'm getting burnt out with all this working and dealing with all of their appointments on my days off.

So now I'm back to work for the weekend. So while I'm at work, tell me your plans for your weekend so I have some happy things to read while I'm busting my ass at work!

Happy Saturday Blogarinos!

Moose on the loose!

I got home from running errands the other day and I went to open the blinds on my back sliding door. That's when I saw them.
Not one, not two...not even three, but FOUR moose running around my neighborhood munching on the bare bushes!!!
I absolutely LOVE moose.
They are such big and beautiful creatures.

After shooting these beautiful creatures, they walked a little ways down the street and started munching on more bushes and some small trees.
I spotted a guy walk out of his apartment and he was texting on his phone and not paying attention. He almost ran into the moose!
I was lucky enough to get pictures of him running off.
He ended up looking up towards me because he probably heard me laughing so hard. Ha!!

Never a dull moment in the 'hood!
Happy Friday Blogarinos!

Hospitals have become my home away from home

Not only do I work at a hospital for 12 hours a day, 5 days a week (most of the time lately), but apparently I'm meant to live at one!
Poppy was admitted overnight two weeks ago. He is happy and better and home now! I probably should have updated sooner! I've just been so busy with work and taking care of everyone.
They ended up removing 30+ stones out of Poppy's bladder, took a biopsy of something the doctor said looked like cancer, and he even found a few surprises!
Poppy had a kidney removed four years ago and when they closed him up, they used staples. Well somehow his body absorbed some of the staples and that's what his infection came from.
Dr. S. ended up removing six staples out of his bladder. So after many doses of antibiotics, Poppy's bladder is now feeling much better, his urine is clear and the funky odor is gone!
We have his post-op appointment later on this afternoon.

I also have to go to the hospital this morning to deal with my cousin.
He ended up getting a hematoma on his left side that hurt him really bad about a month and a half ago. He started feeling better, but then it got worse.
He now has a huge lump on the left side of his body about the size of a basketball. He went and had more CTs, MRIs and blood work done.
They have now noticed that one or more vessels are still leaking and it's all blood. His lung is now absorbing the blood.
So this morning, he's having a thoracentesis done to have the blood drained from his lung and hopefully find the vessel(s) that is/are leaking.

I swear. The luck my family has had with their health is beyond crappy.

Please send me lots and lots and lots of caffeine and sugar!
Nom nom nom nom.

Happy Thursday Blogarinos!

Super Moon

I love anything to do with the sky.
I love the sun, sunsets, clouds, moons, and stars.
I got to the moon a little late because of Hubster and I went out on a date, but I got a pretty good shot.

That's right folks, an entire weekend off! No being called in to work, no taking the grandparents to appointments, no cleaning, nothing!
I'm so excited!!!
Tonight, Hubster and I are having date night.
A much needed date night.
We're going out to dinner with some friends and then going bowling.
It's going to be so much fun!

Six Word Saturday [Three-fer]

Officially on the TTC bandwagon again!

After a much needed break due to stress and having my wisdom teeth pulled and stitches and taking antibiotics and pain killers, Hubster and I are on the TTC (trying to conceive) bandwagon again.
I'm just waiting for this cycle to start.
I have my thermometer, OPKs, vitamins, and diet all aligned.
Now I'm playing the waiting game.
The story of my life!

Also,

I finally have a weekend off!

The weekday supervisor is on a two week vacation, so I was promoted to weekdays until she comes back.
I haven't had a weekend off in AGES!
I definitely plan on taking full advantage of this.

Also,

Today is surgery day for Poppy!

Poppy will be having surgery in the morning to remove bladder stones and to take out some tumors that may be low-grade cancer. Send your prayers!

Cast your vote!

A friend of mine and I were having a conversation earlier and we were talking about the sex of babies and the whole IVF, IUI, and hormonal therapy thing.
Out of everyone she knows that had assistance, the babies were all girls.
I on the other hand know of women that had boys and girls, but 90% of them had girls.
So I came up with a poll that is located on the right sidebar.

Pass it on to others that you know so we can see what the results are.

Of course I know this has nothing to do with medical accuracy.
It's just for fun.

Swollen ankles

This is what doing 12 hour shifts for eight days straight will do to your ankles.

It's painful.
I can't wait to prop up my feet.

Random Tuesday

In bullets!!
  • I'm currently working day five. 12 hour shifts. I have three more days.
  • I'm running on empty.
  • There is death all over the hospital. It takes a toll on my heart and mind. I know it's a part of my job, but I don't think anyone can get over death. Especially eight in less than a week.
  • The worst thing about a death at the hospital is telling the family and having them crumble in your arms and ask why.
  • Things at work are getting bad again. Everyone is calling in all the time, late, or they aren't scheduling enough bodies. They need to give me the duty of scheduling. The office has no idea what goes on at the hospital and how many people I actually do need in a day to do all of the tasks we are supposed to do.
  • I have so much crap I need to get done around my house. It's all overwhelming. I need to take some pictures of a few items that I'm going to try to sell on Craigslist. Hopefully I can get them sold.
  • Poppy has an appointment tomorrow. It's his pre-op appointment. He has to have a biopsy of his bladder done as well as some major stones removed.
  • Gramma is doing better. She's walking around the house again with the aide of a walker. It's taking her forever to get over this pneumonia.
  • I love my job, but I don't know how much shit I can take. I'm seriously on the edge. I have been for weeks now.
  • We're gaining sunlight in Alaska finally!!!!! We're gaining an average of 6 minutes a day which makes me really happy because it's still light when I get off work at 7:00pm and it's beginning to get light when I leave at 6:40am. FINALLY!!!
I hope everyone has a great work week. Can't wait for the weekend!
Happy Tuesday Blogarinos =]
