How I spent my Father's Day

Father's Day for me is kind of crappy.
I don't have a father. He's a low life piece of scum.
Nothing more than a sperm donor that lied to my mother, knocked her up and knocked up his WIFE at the same time.
However, since marrying Hubster, I have been adopted by his father who is a great man, as well as Poppy. He loves all the girls more than anything!
So for Father's Day, we all went to his house and had a BBQ.

We started off with awesome angus burgers.

With some nice, fresh veggies to top them with.

Hubster and the brother grilling.

Then we decided to start a small fire so we could make some S'mores.

He was having a hard time starting the fire.

So he poured some lighter fluid on the wood. He got it to start!

Little Caden sharing his S'more with Poppy.

Caden giving his gramma bunny ears.

Sisterly love.

Gramma's beautiful smile.

I told Poppy to smile and he looked up and laughed really loud. It's my favorite picture.

How did you spend Father's Day?

Summer Solstice bash...with a celebrity appearance!

I had a blast at the Summer Solstice bash on Saturday.
It was held downtown Anchorage on 4th Avenue. They shut down the entire street and had a bunch of activities to do for adults and children.
Luckily, I was able to take my nephew. His mom agreed to come into town so we could have some family fun before my brother leaves for four weeks for work and see him for Father's Day. Even if it was a day early.

This is the historic 4th Avenue theater.

My brother and nephew. Cheesin'. This is my nephew's version of the peace sign. Ha!

Chinese drummers

Giant 18-foot puppet and a giant Radio Flyer red wagon that is actually a car!

Trying to get nephew to high-five the puppet, but he wasn't having any of that!

Instead, he opted for a picture in front of it all

Nephew even asked the owners nicely if he could sit on it

Close up of the puppet

There was a guy that cut things out of wood with a chainsaw and he made this GIANT chair

There was a petting zoo and nephew chose an albino bunny. Red eyes and fluffy!

We were even surprised with a celebrity of sorts. Chuck Liddell is a retired UFC lightweight champion and he showed up to the festival and offered free pictures with him. Our picture won't be available until Wednesday or later, but we were able to take some from the side of the tent to hold us over until we got the professional pic. He was REALLY nice, shook our hands, asked us our names and even chatted as he was giving us his autograph before the picture was taken.

Nephew looked at Chuck Liddell and said "Beat down!" as Chuck was signing the autograph. He laughed and said it back to him which made nephew's day.

Chuck Liddell even signed nephew's hat. Something he can hold on forever!

The lady taking the picture.

Aaron and me with Chuck Liddell

After seeing Chuck Liddell, we headed to the kid zone where they had a mini lake so the little ones could kayak. Nephew ready to go!

He was so excited and ready to go!

He was actually moving himself with that oar and he's only 2.5 years old!

Getting a little push from the helpers.

Huge bubble maker that was making bubbles float everywhere.

Random bubbles floating in the air.

This is the same guy that made that GIANT chair. He was carving an eagle with a chainsaw.

This guy was playing an electric violin. He was AWESOME! He did a Beyonce and Lady Gaga song. It was amazing!

And that was the end of the festival. It was an amazing day. I even got sunburnt!
It was worth it though.
Awesome family fun!
It was definitely a fantastic Summer Solstice bash!

Six Word Saturday

Enjoying the Summer Solstice party downtown!

Here in Alaska, we celebrate Summer Solstice because it's the one day we get 24 hours of COMPLETE daylight in Anchorage.
They shut down the entire downtown district and have a huge party.
I luckily have the weekend off, so I'm partaking in the festivities!
I can't wait!

P.S. Supposedly you're able to sit an egg up completely straight and it stays that way. I WILL be trying out this theory...

5. My favorite warm drink is: Sugar-free hazelnut mocha with NO whipped cream.

6. My favorite cold drink is: Diet Coke...hands down!

7. Currently loving: Having weekends off temporarily. Until I'm off light duty, I'm working in the office which happens to be Monday thru Friday.

Pouring Your Heart Out [Edition 1]

This is my first time participating in Pouring Your Heart Out.

Lately, I've had a bit of depression and anger.
This is why...

  • So many pregnancy announcements on Twitter.
  • So many loss announcements on Twitter.
  • Every time I see a pregnancy announcement, I think of the day I lost Katelynn.
  • Every time I see a loss announcement, I think of the day I lost Katelynn.
  • Dealing with a close family member suffering from infertility becoming pregnant and talks about it all the time. Don't get me wrong, I'm so over-the-moon happy for her and can't wait to see her when the baby is born, but it's just hard.
  • Having to deal with infertility
  • Getting my fucking period every month.
  • Having to take my temperature and check my cervix every morning. Month after month after month.
  • Having Hubster bitch all the time because I'm not working enough due to being on light duty. Not my fault dude...get over it.
  • Having to do stuff for the family on my days off. I just want a day to myself. I want to just have the opportunity to sit on my couch and watch TV all day. I don't want to clean the kitchen, clean the bathroom, or do a load of laundry.
  • Having to deal with stupid co-workers. They are all childish and piss me off. I love my job, just hate the people that work there.
  • Not having my knee feeling any better after 10 weeks of the injury. Hopefully the new doctor will help me.
  • Paying bills with only the funds from half of a normal paycheck for me. It's really financially draining.
So as you can see, I have a lot weighing me down.
I pray I can get out of this funk.

From the famous expression of Donald Trump...YOU'RE FIRED!

I fired my ortho surgeon today.
It had to be done.

I went in for another follow-up today to see how the physical therapy is doing. Dr. S asked me if there have been any changes. I pulled up my pant leg and showed him there has not been any improvements. My knee hurts like hell still and my ankle is doubled in size.
I have not been able to put on a pair of shoes (other than my Crocs) since I got hurt March 27th.

He looked at my leg, then turned to his computer and wrote out another prescription for physical therapy. I told him that the eight weeks of physical therapy that I have been doing haven't changed anything. Yes, I can now bend my knee and extend, but putting weight on it still kills me. I walk ten feet at work and I'm limping and my leg is swelling even more. I told Dr. S that I didn't think physical therapy was working and asked him what my other options were. The next sentence that came out of his mouth wanted me to hit him. He said,

"We'll try and exhaust physical therapy. I don't want to put a scar on your knee. We'll try another four weeks and see where we are from there."

Now I'm not WANTING surgery, but I have a feeling it's what will help my knee heal. Where the hell does he get off saying he doesn't want to put a scar on me? I then asked him what if the extra four weeks of physical therapy don't work...then what? He then said,

"Then we'll try MORE physical therapy."

I stood up, told him I wasn't comfortable with him being my doctor anymore and walked out. After I got in my car, it hit me.

Not once did he examine my knee.
Not once did he feel my knee.
Not once did he feel my ankle.
Not once did he watch how my knee moved.
Not once did he do any kind of exam.

He just looked at it and turned to his computer. He doesn't know what it feels like when I moved my knee while I'm walking. He doesn't hear the sound it makes when I take a few steps. It's like he doesn't care.
Maybe it was my fault since I was referred to him by workman's comp. They are probably in it together to do the least amount of work to get the job done so they don't have to pay a shit load of money. He hasn't even given me anything for the pain. I've been walking around on my knee with just ibuprofen. Talk about PAIN.

I called my workman's comp adjuster and told him I found someone else to take over and I fired my surgeon. He asked me why, so I told him and he said okay. Now I'm just waiting for an appointment.

Hopefully this doctor does something to help my knee heal.
