I have a confession

I never graduated from high school.
I went all four years, but my last year I was preoccupied and just didn't apply myself. I was three credits short from graduating.
So...I just blew it off.
I was able to support myself and my family with a pretty decent job.
I did a lot of on-the-job training and worked my way up to managerial positions.
I also was able to take a PCA program with on-the-job experience and worked in a hospital for three years.
That's when I knew I needed to get into college.
I didn't want to have odd jobs.
I want a career.
So I grew the courage and signed up for GED classes a few weeks ago.
The placement tests were awful. I had no idea that I was that terrible in math. After studying my butt off for a few weeks, I was finally ready to start the final testings for GED.
I went in on Monday and took my math and science test.
I left feeling unsure of myself. Some of the questions on both tests were really hard and I was second guessing myself.
Well the instructor called today with the final grade.
You have to have a 410 to pass a test, but an overall score of 2250, so that's an average of 450 each test.
On the math test, I scored a 570!
On the science test, I scored an 800...which is a perfect score! I didn't miss one question!
I am so proud of myself that I did really well on the tests.
I have class tomorrow morning to take some practice tests for the Social Studies, Reading, and Writing tests so I can hopefully be ready enough to finish next Monday.
I am so happy with myself.
College is finally in the horizon!

Six Word Saturday

Sixty long days and finally CD1!

After a sixty day cycle, I have finally started AF.
I'm temping and checking for ovulation this month if it kills me!
I always seem to forget to take my temp in the mornings when I wake up, so I've set an alarm to wake me up and temp, then if I fall back to sleep...so be it.
I've even started new supplements to try and combat my PCOS symptoms, so I'm hoping they help.
Counting down the days until my insurance kicks in!

Final resting place

As I'm typing this, my family in Alaska is traveling on a ferry to Petersburg, Alaska to put Gramma T to rest next to her brother.
I wish I could be there.
My heart aches because I'm not there.
The money was just too much. For just Hubster and me to fly, it was going to cost almost $3,000 on short notice. That was bereavement ticket prices too!
I'm glad I've been to the cemetery to see where Uncle John was buried so I know what it looks like. The cemetery is beautiful there. It's on top of a hill and over looks the ocean.
There was a service in Anchorage and a family friend took some pictures so Hubster and I knew what the casket looked like and all the people that were there to help celebrate Gramma's life.
I just wish I could be there.
It hurts that I'm not.
October 20, 2012 Gramma will finally be put to rest and I can get some closure.

Zombie Pub Crawl 2012

I've had a blast while my mom was here visiting. Although, the week went by way too fast!
I was able to have her yummy cooking, took her to Mall of America, and even went Wisconsin cheese hunting.
The most fun though, was Zombie Pub Crawl 2012!
Zombie Pub Crawl is when Minneapolis and St. Paul shut down and the zombies go crazy!

I fro'd my hair and had nasty scabs all over my face.

We went to Mall of America and got on the light rail to Minneapolis. When we first got on, we were the only zombies. There were two Chinese women that kept looking at us. Finally, they asked if they could take a picture with us. Of course we did!
After a few stops, the train was full of zombies and LOUD!

We got off at Cabooze where the main party was. There were zombies everywhere! My mom was astonished. She hadn't seen anything like it before. She was such a good sport.
Zombies, zombies everywhere!

Brainz!

The bands were incredible that played during the pub crawl with the exception of DMX. He was supposed to be on stage performing at 9pm, but he didn't show up till after 10pm and sang four songs really quick then left. The zombies were NOT impressed!
Gin Blossoms was awesome and a lot of the local bands in the Minneapolis area did a really good job. We were thumping and bumping!
I also found out that my mom is quite a social butterfly!

We got to meet and talk to a lot of other zombies. Crazy outfits!

BiL with some chicks.

This guy was aweome! I want those contacts.

My mom was convinced this was Chris Brown's brother. Ha!

After all the drinking, the port-a-potty messes, the dancing, the sweating, and the last call shots from my mom's favorite bartender, it was an awesome night. We ended up taking the train back home and getting a cab.

Now for the perfect ending of the night....

Even zombies have a late-night, drunk induced craving for White Castle!

Grieving

I have been in bed literally all day. I finally dried my tears and went to the store and made dinner for everyone.

Pandora radio has been my friend since I found out. As well as Cosmo and my favorite pillow.
It feels like I'm walking through a blurry dream and I'm just waiting to wake up.
Grieving sucks.

R.I.P Gramma

Gramma T lost her battle and went to be with the Lord October 9, 2012 at 1:00am Alaska time.
My heart is breaking.
I wasn't ready to get the phone call.
I'm just glad he's not in pain anymore.

She always had the best smile!

R.I.P Gramma. I love you and miss you so very much!

Friend Makin' Monday's: Inside My Home

This is my first Friend Makin' Monday.
Welcome! =]

Inside My Home

1. Do you live in an apartment/condo, townhouse or house?  I live in a house. It's my BiL's house, but we are living here while Hubster and I get permanent jobs and look for our own house. Moving 3,180 miles is hard work!

2. What is your home’s coolest feature? All of the hideaway storage rooms and pathways.

3.  Do you enjoy DIY projects?  If so, what are you working on now?  I LOVE DIY projects! I have definitely hooked up my SiL with a bunch of decorating projects. Right now I'm working on holiday decorations.

4. When using the dishwasher do you use powder detergent or liquid?  I hate anything powder. It always clumps up on me. I choose liquid detergent.

5. Do you have a TV in your bedroom?  No TV in the bedroom. Just the living room and the man cave so the guys can watch their sports and ESPN news.

6.  Is your range gas or electric?  Unfortunately it's electric. I've definitely had to adjust to cooking on it. I prefer gas 100%.

7.  How often do you sweep/mop/vacuum?  Every other day. There's a very active 12 month old living in the house and he can find the smallest iota of an atom and stick it in his mouth.

8.  What is your favorite place to shop for home furniture and accents?  IKEA! If I can't make it myself, that's my go-to store.

9.  Do you decorate for holidays? I love decorating for the holidays. My BiL and SiL appreciate it.

10.  If you could have HGTV come in and redo one room in your home which room would you choose? Definitely the bathroom! It's very small and cramped.

Now head on over to All the Weigh and link up =]

A day at the pumpkin patch

Fall has and always will be my favorite season.
Yeah, I love every season, but nothing beats a cool, crisp fall day with the smell of leaves in the air, snuggling up in a scarf while outside, or a nice throw blanket on the couch.

Being in Alaska, we really didn't have a fall. We had a few months of summer, then rain every day until it snowed. We certainly didn't have huge pumpkin patches you could go to so you could find THE perfect pumpkin. We had to settle for digging for a decent pumpkin that you could carve in a huge box. Most pumpkins being soft and disgusting.

Well, today the gang jumped in the van and drove about 40 miles South to New Prague, Minnesota to Barten's Pumpkin Patch on the hunt for THE perfect pumpkin.
It was so fun going through the patch and finding all the pumpkins.
Hubster had never been to one and it was fun seeing him like a little kid in a candy store.
Not to mention my nephew's reaction to all of the pumpkins.

This wasn't even 1% of all the pumpkins that was there.

Group photo!

How stinkin' cute is he?!

I love his smile.

Dylan found his perfect pumpkin!

Every one else found their pumpkin. I picked the HUGE one because I have carving plans with that one.

Now on our way to the pumpkin patch, we passed this huge yellow barn on the side of the road and it said World's Largest Candy Store. Of course we had to stop off after we picked our pumpkins!

I wish I would have taken pictures on the inside, but it was so crowded! There was wall to wall candies, apples, nuts, local honey, 100 different kinds of soda, popcorn, alcoholic add-ins, basically anything you could think of.
I bought some local honey and popcorn. Hubster bought homemade Bloody Mary mix and some jalapeno olives.
I definitely will be going back before they close in December!

I hate October

I wish I could just sleep away the entire month of October.
How fitting is it that October happens to be National Pregnancy and Infant Loss month?
I get so very depressed around this time.
I lost Katelynn on October 13th.
I would have a four year old by December if she had lived.
Instead, my body failed me.
Shit.
