Teal Awareness

I have been a follower of Mr & Mrs O for as long as I can remember. It wasn't until recently that I found out she had an Etsy shop.
How did I miss that???

Anyway, I checked out her shop and found a TON of lovely items. She makes the most beautiful jewelry.
Well I decided to buy a Teal Awareness item to support PCOS awareness.
She was very accommodating to what I wanted with my necklace. I didn't know I was going to be as happy with the item as I am and when I opened the package.

I absolutely love the necklace.

You should check out her store.

Random Thursday

Spending a majority of my life in Alaska, I'm a pro when it comes to winter items. Although winter is my LEAST favorite season, it comes with my MOST favorite items.
Without these items, I don't think I'd ever survive a winter again.

Here's my top 3 items I cannot survive without in the winter.

1. Chapstick. Um, hello! Who wants to go walking around looking all crusty. Chapstick is a must-have item to survive winter. My fav? EOS in Summer Fruit.

2. Scarves. You can never have enough scarves. When I walk into a store, I instantly hone in on the scarves. I love long, chucky ones, skinny soft ones, colorful, solid, pattern, etc. If it's a scarf, chances are I'm going to buy it. Here's my collection. (Don't judge. Also, my scarf holder was bought at IKEA for $2. It's meant for ties, but I use it for scarves.)

3. St. Ives lotion. This lotion is by far the best that I've tried to combat my dry skin. Not to mention that is smells delish!

Ten on Tuesday

Holy late-ness!

1. I think I'm about to start my period because I've been really bitchy lately.

2. I am ALMOST done with Christmas gifts. I need to work that crochet hook a little faster. I hope Christmas comes soon so I can be done with all the Christmas crap. I'm just not feeling it this year. Maybe it's because I'm so far away from my Alaska family.

3. I feel the need to go out and make some friends. I hate living in a new state where I only know family. I love my SiL and all, but damn....I need some other friends.

4. I've secretly been looking at houses. I really want to move out of the situation I'm in. I'm hoping Hubster lands a really good job soon.

5. School starts soon! Waiting for financial aid to get their shiz together. They seem to want to take a long time with everything! My book list comes out soon and I'm not looking forward to paying the $500 in books I need. That's just for 3 classes.

6. I didn't realize how many boxes I actually have to send out this year.

7. The skin on my face is totally hating me right now. It doesn't know what it should do I guess being in a new cold climate and all. One minute it's itchy and dry and a few minutes later it's all oily and gross. Not to mention the redness. I've always had the worst face.

8. I'm still not happy with the groomer that cut Cosmo.

9. I'm really tired of everyone asking me if I'm ok or if I'm mad. No, I'm not ok, you keep asking me if I'm mad!!!!!! I just wish I could have an off day, be pissed about something stupid, then get happy about it.

10. I really need to schedule an oil change. I haven't had one since we left Alaska. It's been waaaaaaaaaaaaay over 3,000 miles. I know, I know, I'm a horrible auto owner. My truck is probably outside dying a little inside right now. I'm definitely going in tomorrow.

Sunday Social

Sunday Social

This is my first time doing Sunday Social. I got the idea from Southern Sunflowers and Coffee Beans who links up with A Complete Waste of Makeup for the Sunday Social!

This week the theme is 4's:
1. Name 4 jobs you’ve had in your life: Rides operator supervisor at Paramount Kings Island, cashier at Walmart, restaurant manager at a fast food joint, and a supervisor of patient transport at a hospital.
2. Name 4 movies you would watch over and over:

3. Name 4 places you have lived: Lebanon, Ohio; Cincinnati, Ohio; Anchorage, Alaska; and now Minneapolis, Minnesota.

4. Name 4 of your favorite foods: My mom's meatloaf, any kind of salad, macaroni and cheese, and anything with quinoa.

5. Name 4 things you always carry with you: Debit card, iPhone, chapstick, and Nookster.

6. Name 4 places you have been on vacation: Southeast Alaska, Cumberland Lake in Kentucky, cross country road trip from Ohio to Alaska, and another cross country road trip from Alaska to Minnesota.

Six Word Saturday

Almost done with my Christmas shopping!

I only have a few more things to pick up and I'll be completely done with my Christmas shopping. It feels good to be done this early. Now I can focus on better things.

P.S. I did NOT participate in all the Black Friday crap. I just moved to a city in Minnesota that is 100x bigger than my little Alaskan city and there isn't enough Xanax in the world to help me.
Did you go shopping Black Friday?

Elf for Health

I have decided to start my New Year's Resolution early this year.
The holidays are the WORST when it comes to being disciplined and trying to eat right with all the crazy temptation foods in front of your face.
I've been needing something motivating and I think I have found it.

nutritionella

I'm going to be an Elf for Health.
Since not smoking, I find myself bored out of my mind and I hate doing the every things, well, every day.
I want to get out and exercise more, but I completely lack any sort of motivation to do anything else.
I'm trying not to gain weight from not smoking. That's the point of me quitting...to be healthier!
I'm hoping I can stay motivated and start dropping some pounds.
I need to do something so I can start the baby making again.
Hopefully dropping some of this weight to kick the PCOS symptoms down a notch.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
Happy Friday everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving

This year, I'm thankful for many things.

  • I have such a great family that I don't know what I would do without them.
  • I was able to concentrate and work on getting my GED and then enrolling into college. For the first time ever.
  • My brother-in-law and sister-in-law gave us a great opportunity to come live with them in Minnesota so we could re-locate closer to them and let us get on our feet.
  • I get to be close to my nephew and that in itself is better than anything!
  • I have a great support group with PCOS and Infertility. Without these ladies I'd go crazy most days.
  • I have an awesome husband that puts up with my bullshit and mood swings. I don't know how he does it.
I wish I could be closer to some of my other family in Alaska, but I have a great family that has adopted us here in Minnesota and I'm thankful we get to spend Thanksgiving with them.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Cosmo's trip to the groomer

I've been on search for a new groomer for Cosmo ever since we moved to Minnesota.
I haven't been able to find any good reviews on anyone, but Cosmo NEEDED to be shaved. It was getting too much for him and myself.

 Cosmo before haircut

I called this one business and the lady on the phone was very pleasant, answered all of my questions and got me in pretty fast, so I went the next day. I showed her pictures of how I usually get Cosmo groomed and she said she had no problem doing that.
She even commented saying she likes to do Yorkies the way I usually get him done.

This is how I get Cosmo's hair cut.

So the groomer told me that it would be a few hours and she would call me when she was finished.
I left and came home to do some things around the house.
She was asked to cut his nails, brush his teeth, take care of his ear hair as well as everything else she included in a groom.
She called me a few hours later and I went to pick up Cosmo. I noticed that he was cut a little shorter than I had wanted and I told her that. She apologized and she then gave me a 20% discount because she was unable to cut his nails and take care of his ear hair because she said that Cosmo wouldn't let her.
Cosmo has never acted up while getting groomed, but because she was new, I said that was fine.
I paid the money and left.

Later on that day I was on Facebook and I decided to see if the business had a fan page. The lady mentioned that she likes to take pictures of her work and post them and asked if I was ok with that and I told her yes. That's when I saw it.
Cosmo was on her Facebook page and it was the EXACT cut that I wanted!!!!

Screen shot from the page. Things are blocked out for privacy reasons of course. That is her font on the picture of Cosmo.

I couldn't believe my eyes. He was so adorable and I loved how his feet were cut round and really nice.
After looking at this and looking at Cosmo, I want to know what happened!!!!

This is what Cosmo looked like when I picked him up. You can clearly tell that his beard is gone and his legs fur wasn't as even as it was in the picture.
He's still cute though!!!
Just not what I had asked for.

I called the groomer the next day wanting some answers, but for some reason there was no answer or when there was, she was unavailable. I think I'm going to walk into the business and ask her what happened....

Ten on Tuesday

1. Things are starting to really get to me around here.

2. I'm so nervous and excited to finally start school. I've been out of high school for more than ten years so I'm afraid I forget how to study and what-not. We'll see.

3. This picture makes me laugh so hard. Enjoy.

4. I still need to do our Christmas pictures. I'm such a freaking procrastinator lately.

5. Lately whenever I go to the store, every one gets on my nerves. You have people who don't know how to push a cart, others that don't know where to stop in an aisle so others can get through, women who let their kids run crazy and throw things in other peoples' carts, men scratching their sacks and touching everything and then you have the obnoxious women that are so loud, you wish you could just walk up to them and roundhouse kick them in the face...yeah, I just went Chuck Norris on her.

6. I really need to catch up on all of my shows. I'm hoping they are all on the On-Demand list.

7. I can't believe Thanksgiving is only two days away. How the hell did that happen??? I still have two pumpkin pies and two pumpkins rolls to make. On top of all the homemade noodles I need to prepare and cut. I also have to go over to my sister-in-law's mom's house to help her prep all the food so she's not going crazy on Thursday.

8. Need more sleep.

9. I took Cosmo to get a haircut the other day and after finding the groomer's company Facebook, I'm pissed. (Post to come)

10. There are so many holiday things to do in Minneapolis. I'm in total overload. I want to do EVERYTHING! We never had really cool parades and such around the holidays in Alaska. I'm pretty excited. The inner kid is coming out.

Officially enrolled

As of yesterday, I'm officially enrolled in college.
I am majoring in Nursing so it's going to be a stressful time, but I'm up for it and I know this is what I want to do.
My first semester is going to be light because I haven't been in school for over 11 years.
I'm taking English, Biology, and Intercultural Communication.
I'm really excited.
Classes start January 14th.
I'm finally making something of myself.

Friend Makin' Monday: Thanksgiving Edition

Thanksgiving Edition
1. Do you have any Thanksgiving traditions?  No traditions really. Just dinner somewhere and I make a pumpkin pie and my mom's homemade noodle recipe.
2. List at least three dishes that are on your family’s table every year. Homemade stuffing, fresh cranberry sauce, and yams.
3. Do you prefer pumpkin pie or pecan pie? Pumpkin pie. I dislike pecans...
4. Will you watch football on Thanksgiving Day? Of course!!!
5. Do you plan to exercise Thursday? Formal exercise, probably not. Running up and down stairs and back and forth to the kitchen while cooking is probably going to give me plenty of exercise.
6. Do you prefer ham or turkey?  Ham. Turkey can get too dry fast.
7. Will you shop on Black Friday? I've been lucky and got almost all of my Christmas shopping done. Since it's my first Black Friday in a huge city, I'll probably hit up the malls for all the free facials and makeovers lol
8. Do you take a nap on Thanksgiving? I'm not a nap person.
9. Share one dish that probably won’t be on anyone else’s table. My mom's homemade noodles.
10. What are you thankful for today?  I'm thankful that I'm surrounded by loved ones every day and that my SiL's family has adopted Hubster and me into her family so we can share in their holiday plans.
Now it's your turn. Head on over to All the Weigh and link up with everyone else.

College bound!

This year has been busy indeed.
I have managed to work my butt off until May, moved from Alaska to Minnesota, sign up for GED classes and finish in record time with exceptional scores, and now, I have officially applied to a college.

My dream is actually coming true. I am going to go to college and get my degree and have my dream job.
I'm just so freakin' excited!

I visited the campus this afternoon and really loved it. The staff was nice, the students were great, and it's the the atmosphere I'm looking for. I'm excited for January 14th to roll around when I'll finally be a college student.

Surviving the first day

Well I survived the first day of not smoking cigarettes.
It wasn't as hard as I thought it would for the first day, but I know the worst is yet to come.
I have gone through quite a few Dum Dum suckers and have crocheted a lot to keep my hands busy.
Also, my kitchen and dining room are completely spotless because I've cleaned them both several times today. I find that it keeps me from going insane.
I will kick this habit for good this time!

Please wish me luck!

Addiction

Growing up, I was around addiction my entire life. My parents were addicted to alcohol which later turned turned into a prescription drug addiction, my brother had an addiction to some really hardcore drugs, my sisters as well. I even had an addiction to prescription drugs at one point in my life.

The best part is that although my family has been riddled with addictions, we've all over come the worst of it and leading better lifestyles. My mom has gotten help and a great job after kicking her addiction, my brother as well. I've even done well for myself.

The only thing I feel that's holding me back is my addiction to cigarettes. I want to live a better lifestyle, be healthier, and not be tied down to planning things around when I want my next cigarette.

As of Saturday, I will be smoke-free. I was able to quit for eight months at one time in my life, but I let stress get the better of me and started again. This time around, I feel as though I'm less stressed due to my living arrangements now, I'm happy with where I'm going in my life, and I have a quitting buddy. My sister-in-law is quitting with me so we can share out struggles together.

I'm ready this time.

Kicking the habit for good!

'Tis the season

As much as I love Halloween, I love the end it because it means Christmas is almost here!
I was never one to like Christmas in the past. Before I was married, I never had family around and just never got in the spirit. I always worked on the holidays and was pretty bummed around the holidays because I didn't have anyone around to share them with.

After being adopted into Hubster's family, that has all changed. The whole family opened their arms up to me and I got to feel what a family Christmas got to feel like again. Since then, I've been hooked on the holidays.

I love the decorating, the baking, listening to Christmas music and watching my favorite Christmas movies.
Some of my favorites are Miracle on 34th Street, It's a Wonderful Life, and of course the 24 hour marathon on TNT of A Christmas Story. (You'll shoot your eye out kid!)

I'm excited to be here in Minnesota with BiL, SiL, and nephew so I we can start a yearly tradition with my nephew. I can't wait to take him out on Christmas Eve and look at all the neatly decorated houses in the neighborhood. That's been a tradition of my family since I was little and I love it! Even when I didn't have anyone to share the holidays with, I would get a thermos of hot cocoa, hop in my car with Christmas tunes playing and drive through all the neighborhoods in Alaska to see everyone's Christmas light masterpieces.

What are some traditions you have in your family?

Randomness

I've been so busy.
With all the classes and going into Minneapolis to take a few of the GED tests, I have been one busy bee. Not including crocheting non-stop.
I have made some pretty cute things. I'm very proud of myself for taking on a crocheting project that wasn't a blanket.
I made my sister a college tote for when she starts classes soon.
She asked me to make her something for Christmas that was crocheted, so I chose the bag.
It turned out quite nice.
I may have to make one for myself when I start classes.

So I find out the results to all of my tests tomorrow. I'm so excited!
I can't believe it took me this long to finish what I needed to do a long time ago.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Sorry for the crappy post.
I'll have better ones soon.
Just as soon as I catch up on my sleep.
