Ten on Tuesday

I can't believe it's Tuesday again.
Time is flying by!!!

1. I'm currently writing this during my lunch break in the cafeteria at school where I'm watching a bunch of grown men playing some kind of card game with super powers, villians, etc. Something like Dungeons and Dragons. I had no idea that still existed!

2. I'm trying not to freak out because in exactly 2 hours (which is when my next class is scheduled), I will finally be turning in my 20 page paper for my Writing and Research class. I'm so freaking nervous!!! I worked so hard on it and learned a lot about the media and health issues. I just hope it's good enough to get a decent grade. My professor seems like a hard ass and is extremely sarcastic (like me) so I hope I enlighten him with my paper. This was all new territory for me.

3. I've been taking Metformin for almost two weeks now and I'm dealing the symptoms pretty well, it just sucks feeling nauseous all the time and needed to go diarrhea every few hours.

4. I got rear-ended yesterday evening while I was sitting at a red light listening to music. I felt this huge jolt while jamming to my music and look in my rearview mirror to see a middle aged woman freak out. I motioned for her to pull over into a nearby parking lot to assess the damage. I looked at the back of my car and didn't see where she hit me. She ended up hitting my tow bar and a little paint transfer on the driver side. Nothing serious. There was more damage to her car so we exchanged information and went on our way.
Thank you tow hitch!!!!

5. I didn't think I got hurt until later when my body started to ache. My head kind of hurt and my back and shoulder. When I took a shower, I then saw why my shoulder and back hurt. I have a nasty bruise starting. That'll teach me to wear a seatbelt!

6. What the fuck happened to spring?

7. I feel like finding Mother Nature's uterus and kicking it. I'm so done with this bipolar ass weather. I moved from Alaska to get away from this shit. I'd rather go back!

8. Cosmo finally got a hair cut. This makes me so happy and I bet he feels a lot better. No more Chewbacca!

9. Cosmo is turning nine years old this summer and his joints are starting to bother him so Hubster and I went to Pet Smart and got him stairs so he doesn't have to jump up on the bed or off. He's loving them!

10. Now give him treats!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Getting proactive

I'm getting proactive about my health as of late.
I want to lose weight.
I want to battle this wretched PCOS.
I want to get healthier.
I want a baby.

I finally got insurance after being without for over five years and saw an OB/GYN.
She's a wonderful doctor and I like her a lot.
We went over my history, my mother's history of endometriosis and breast cancer, and all of my concerns.
She even listened to me about my wants and gave me the answers to all the questions I've had for so long.

I had blood drawn while I was there to check for diabetes, cholesterol, and hormone levels.
Also, she put me on the dreadful Metformin.
I took Metformin a few years back and got so sick from it.
The doctor told me that the reason I had so many problems with it was because when I was on it before, I was on the extended release version.
This time, I'm on the regular Metformin. 500 mgs a day for 2 weeks, then 1000 mgs a day for another 2 weeks, than up to 1500 mgs a day.

The doctor got back to me about my blood levels and wants me to see an endocrinologist so that's who I'm going to see in the next three weeks.

I'm just glad to be getting my health prioritized and getting more proactive about my health.

Ten on Tuesday: Picture edition

Happy Tuesday everyone!
I have been so busy writing a paper for my Writing and Research class, being sick, celebrating my 30th birthday, and working extra hours.
So this week I will be doing ten pictures.

1. This is how I've been feeling lately when I get in my car. I don't know if it's from all the extra bloating or if my boobs are getting bigger....like they can get any bigger.

2. I am so freaking sick and tired of snow! We are 7 days away from May and we got another nine inches of snow last night. Are you effing kidding me?!? I moved from Alaska to get away from this crap.
Go home winter, you're drunk!!

3. Remember when I lost the diamond out of my wedding ring? Well Hubster got me a replacement for my birthday. I heart it so much!

4. This is how I feel after 2 weeks without having a day off from work or school. My manager put me on a few more shifts during the week without asking and I hate it.

 5. Exactly!

6. I just don't care about anything right now other than finishing my paper and getting through the last three weeks of the semester.

7. Some people are just taking things too literally lately.

8. Because we all have our sexy as hell moments, we just have to stop and take a pic of that shit.

9. I deserve a freaking award! Everyone has just been getting on my last nerve lately.
 10. If it's not, I'm totally doing it to my lab partner. She always comes to class with stank breath and wants to make sure emphasizes all of her words wafting the stench to my direction.

Well there you have it Blogarinos.
Have a happy Tuesday!
I'm getting back to writing my paper.

Ten on Tuesday

It's the time of the week again!

1. I have been such a slacker. I haven't blogged in a long time because I've been so preoccupied with family shit. I'm going crazy.

2. My grampa was admitted to the ICU last week and they threw a bunch of long medical terms at my aunt. Basically he's in the beginning stages of cirrohsis and has brain disease. The last thing I heard about him was he was going to be going to a regular hospital room, but now no one is answering my texts or phone calls.

3. School has been super stressful due to my grampa's illness. I can't seem to concentrate on anything.

4. Wednesday, I have an appointment with a shrink. Yep. I took the plunge to get some mental help because everyone knows Nikki is cray-cray.

5. I love it when my brother-in-law takes a nap on the couch in the living room and while watching Family Guy, part of the scene says, "Chris, come downstairs right now and say hi!" and my brother-in-law answers in his sleep...."hi!"

6. I have 21 days before my 22 page research project is due. I'm fretting!

7. If you have Netflix and you're a foreign film lover, do not watch Tere Bin Laden. It's so dumb! I have to dissect this movie for my Intercultural Communications class and I want to carve out my ear drums and poke out my eyes. It's that bad.....

8. I found out my little sister is battling with PCOS and has a bunch of cysts that are causing her pain. I feel so bad for her! She's uninsured because her job doesn't offer benefits so she's frantically trying to figure out what to do.

9. I'm so sick and tired of seeing all the religious crap on my newsfeed on Facebook about how gay marriage is a sin. Let them live their life in sin! Go back to living your sin-free life because everyone knows you're perfect and worry about yourself.

10. With that, I'm going to bed. It's after 2:30am and I'm still awake because my body hates me. I'm going to be so tired in class later.

Have a happy Tuesday Blogarinos!

Random Thursday: A Day in the Life...

It's that time of the week again!
I had fun with this week's topic.

Today is a school day, so I documented in pictures what a day in my life is like at school.

I start my commute around 8:30ish in the morning.
I like to listen to 101.3 KDWB in the morning. They have the BEST morning show ever!!! If you want to check it out, they are on iHeart Radio as well under The Dave Ryan Morning Show. HILARIOUS!

For some reason, I always get stuck behind semi trucks. They piss me off!

It's like clockwork. The UPS home must be up the road from this intersection because every morning, there's a herd of UPS trucks filing out.

I finally arrive at school for my first class.

My first class is in the Liberal Arts building on campus. It's Intercultural Communications which is my favorite class so far.
Afterwards, it's a short walk to my Biology class.
We're learning parts of the cell now.

After Biology class, I have 2.5 hours before my writing class so I usually pack a protein bar and head to the library.
This is where I work on the research for my paper....or play Candy Crush Saga as well as charge my phone.

After the nice 2.5 hour break of nothing, it's finally off to my writing class.

Today's class assignment was to list everywhere writing would be.

My writing class usually goes until 5pm, but the professor was nice and let us out early!
 Flo...being all cold and lonely.

I now start my commute home.

It's kind of hard to see, but it's Yankee Doodle Rd. I freaking love this name!

Once I'm over the bridge, I'm home!

After I get home, I play a little bit with my nephew.
Spend some time with Cosmo.
Then it's study time...until I pass out.

So there it is...a day in the life of a college student!
Have a happy Thursday everyone!

Prayers

Everyone, meet Mike.
He's 77 years old.
Retired aerospace engineer.
Loves to have fun.
Lover of guns.
Is stubborn as hell.
And he's my Grampa.

My grampa raised me in my younger years then I went to live with my mom and step-dad.
We are very close and I love it.
I can always count on him being there for me when I need an ear to listen to me, or there to cheer me up when I'm feeling a little blue.

The other day I got a voicemail from my aunt. Grampa was taken to the ICU because of internal bleeding. The doctor said he might not have very much longer to live.
I of course called my aunt right away and she started rambling off a bunch of different things.

I guess he's been having a lot of internal bleeding since last year. The bleeding got out of control and the doctors found ulcers in his esophagus and stomach. They did an esophageal banding on him yesterday and seemed to help the bleeding. He's also having fluid retention in the lining of his stomach. They pulled out three liters of fluid from his abdominal cavity yesterday and sending the fluid off for testing.

I am just sick to my stomach. I am tempted on hopping in my car and driving down to Ohio to be near him, but I can't rearrange my class schedule. My aunt said that he's fine for now, but don't know what the prognosis is. It's like my Gramma all over again last year. She was fine until one day, she wasn't and died.

Please send prayers, good thoughts, happy dances, fairy fingers, good luck dust, whatever it is that you do.
I don't know what I'm going to do if I lose him so soon.
